FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How We Can Help
WHAT TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?
We are participating providers with PEIA/UMR (WV state insurance), the Health Plan (commercial and Medicaid plans), Unicare, Humana, and Medicare. For all other payors, we are considered out-of-network. Your health insurance coverage for chiropractic care is specific to your plan. We do our due diligence to check benefits and eligibility prior to your initial appointment BUT it is ultimately the insurance's decision when they receive a claim after your appointment to determine what portion of the visit they will cover.
If you do not have insurance or have an insurance we are not in network with, call our office to discuss the medical discount plan (CHUSA) our office participates in.
*It is important to note that MOST insurances only cover what is called "Active Care." This is a trial of care for a specific symptom/complaint. Call our office to speak with a staff member for more information.
DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?
You do not have to have a primary care physician referral to be seen as a patient in our office. However, we gladly accept MD referrals.

WHAT DOES A CHIROPRACTIC VISIT LOOK LIKE?
The visit will depend on where the patient is in their care plan. Our typical visit types are:
1. New patient appointment: Typically, 45 minutes to an hour long. Your complete medical history will be reviewed with the doctor, the reason you made the appointment will be discussed, goals will be set for care, an examination will be performed (orthopedic and neurological tests) to determine what is causing your pain and to rule out any contraindications to care, and an adjustment will be provided as long as no contraindications are found. ALL patients must have this initial appointment to become established with our office.
2. First visit in the anticipated care plan: Typically, 30 minutes long. Your expected care plan will be reviewed and the doctor's recommended home care instructions as well. The anticipated care plan is different for every patient based on lifestyle, comorbidities, how long the pain has been occurring, lifestyle effects, positive examination findings, and commitment to recommendations. Therapeutic exercises, interferential current, and/or therapeutic ultrasound may begin if included in your recommended care plan. An adjustment will also be provided.
3. Active care plan appointment(s): Typically, 15 to 20 minutes long. An adjustment will be provided with any other recommended modalities.
4. Re-examination: Typically, 30 to 45 minutes long. Your initial complaint will be reviewed in detail, goals will be assessed, an examination will be performed similar to the first appointment, an adjustment will be provided, and a plan for moving forward will be discussed based on the goals met and examination findings.
5. Supportive and/or preventative care plans: 10 to 15 minutes long. These appointments are for patients that have completed an initial trial of care and have been released from active care. These plans are also suited for patients that never had an initial symptom/complaint but wanted to get adjusted for preventative reasons. Supportive care is designed to maintain the relief gained from active care. Preventative care is designed to promote overall health and prevent the recurrence of musculoskeletal issues. This visit type is a proactive approach aimed at identifying and addressing potential issues before they manifest as symptoms or discomfort. Most health insurances don't cover this type of care.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT?
A chiropractic adjustment is a non-invasive and drug-free treatment with the goal of reducing pain and restoring normal motion to a specific joint. Our chiropractors have multiple techniques they use to adjust based on patient preference, specific conditions, comorbidities, and range of motion limitations.
WHO CAN SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?
Anyone and everyone! We have a wide range of patient diversity. Babies, teenagers, expecting mothers, middle-life adults, geriatrics- all walks of life are treated in our office. We conduct a thorough history and exam to ensure patient safety prior to treatment, as well as take any necessary modifications based on age, current and past medical history, patient preference, and positive findings in the examination.
HOW DO I KNOW IF CHIROPRACTIC IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Determining if chiropractic care is right for you involves considering your health goals, preferences, and specific conditions. Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, drug-free approach that focuses on the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine, to promote overall well-being. Here are factors to help you decide if chiropractic care aligns with your needs:
1. Pain or Discomfort: If you're experiencing musculoskeletal pain, such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, or joint discomfort, chiropractic care may offer relief. Chiropractors are trained to assess and address these issues through spinal adjustments and other therapeutic techniques.
2. Preventive and Wellness Goals: Chiropractic care is not only about treating pain but also about preventing future issues and promoting overall wellness. If you're interested in proactive approaches to health and maintaining optimal function, chiropractic care may be beneficial.
3. Holistic Approach: Chiropractic care considers the interconnectedness of the spine, nervous system, and overall health. If you appreciate a holistic approach to healthcare that addresses root causes rather than just symptoms, chiropractic care may be a good fit.
4. Non-Invasive Preference: Chiropractic care relies on non-invasive methods to promote healing, relying on manual adjustments, exercises, and lifestyle recommendations. If you prefer drug-free and surgery-free options, chiropractic care aligns with this philosophy.
5. Collaborative Care: Chiropractors often collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. If you value a collaborative approach that considers various aspects of your health, chiropractic care may complement other treatments you're receiving.
6. Open Communication: Effective communication with your chiropractor is crucial. If you're comfortable discussing your health concerns, goals, and any questions you may have, chiropractic care can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
7. Educational Approach: Chiropractors often educate patients about their musculoskeletal health and provide strategies for self-care. If you appreciate being informed about your health and actively participating in your well-being, chiropractic care supports this approach.
8. Personalized Treatment Plans: Our chiropractors create individualized treatment plans based on your unique health circumstances. If you prefer a personalized approach that takes into account your health history and goals, chiropractic care offers tailored solutions.

Ultimately, the best way to determine if chiropractic care is right for you is to schedule an initial appointment. During this visit, a chiropractor will assess your health, discuss your concerns, and provide insights into how chiropractic care can support your well-being. This appointment is an opportunity for you to ask questions, express your goals, and make an informed decision about whether chiropractic care is the right choice for your health journey.
